Kansas City wins by 3 in overtime. How do I know? I'm prophetic.
After the strange weather we've been having this past winter we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to put this year's ski trip together. Thank God we did. The kids had a good time and no one came back with anything broken. Always a plus in my book.

Spring Fundraiser:
Mulch: Back by unanimous demand we will be bringing back this spring fundraiser. We hope to have the paperwork ready to go by the end of next week.
Pancake breakfast: With the backing of the American legion we are putting together details on an April pancake fundraiser. We will be getting the information together and talking about dates in a week.
Pack 110 invite
Pack 110 has four scouts that were looking to join us on one of our outings. They have not yet chosen a troop and are wanting to see what we are about and who we are as a troop. We have a few options that are within the next week. The 2024 Chicago auto show and a trip down to the city for a free day at one of the museums. Just two of the ideas floated. When told of our potential ideas the leaders and kids seemed rather interested.

This past Monday we gave the boys a few options for this year's summer camp / adventure trip. I received three options in return. The first was just don't go to camp this year. I think that one was just tongue in cheek. The second was a closer to home one like we did in 2020. The third was an adventure trip that I presented out to the Black Hills. All of the older guys placed the Black Hills idea at the top of the list. This morning I was presented with Tesomas scout camp as an additional option. This new addition to the pool is a good option that needs to be looked at. I am asking all parents to attend a parent meeting this Monday at 7:15 to go over what the boys want and what we can do.

Field meeting Monday

This Monday we will be holding a field meeting at the Shedd Aquarium. Please go to the website and sign up for the trip. You can also give me a call to let me know if you are going to come.
The boys will be working on the oceanography merit badge. Attached to the bottom of the letter is a copy of the badge book.

We will be meeting at the Kane County Circuit Clerk Office at 8am. We will return around 6p or 7p depending on traffic.

Maps says the fastest route for us to take will be to hit I-88 to I-290. We would get off of I-290 and take South Columbus Drive to East McFetridge. The easiest parking lot to go to would probably be the one just outside Soldier Field.
1356 Special Olympics Dr, Chicago, IL 60605. If we get separated on the trip out or while we are at the parking lot our rondevu point is the Soldier Field children's garden. It is located just outside of the parking lot on the corner of McFetridge and Special Olympics Drive.

For the first time in many years the troop ventured out to the Shedd Aquarium for a field meeting last Monday. It went off without a hitch. The boys all seemed to have a good time and nobody pushed Mr. Flolo into the shark tank. Just a day prior a few of the boys partook in a sledding opportunity that troop 80 had offered to us up in Wisconsin. With no broken bones they returned with smiles and some good stories to share. If all that was not enough Munhall elementary school held their first science fair in a few years to great success. The kids all loved it and voted our station (shrinkie-dinks) the number one spot of the whole fair. All in all this week in scouting was a productive experience.

The 2023 St.Charles Saint Patrick's day parade.
Mar 11th, 2:00p
Thousands of people line Main Street to listen to award winning local marching bands, watch the elaborate and colorful floats, hear the melodic strains of the Celtic pipe bands, and everything St. Charles has to offer. The parade steps off at 2:00pm at 6th Street and continues down Main Street to conclude at 4th Avenue.

The next committee meeting will be at Baker Church immediately following the p.l.c. If you are a committee member or are a parent interested in troop business, please attend. We are searching for new members that can help staff a few areas of need for the troop. The four areas that we are looking to staff are Fundraising, Activities and Recruitment. All three areas are vital to the troop. Meetings of these four departments need not always meet on a Monday night and can bounce ideas via mail or phone.
Veni vidi melius quam expectata! (I came I saw I did better than expected!) And so they did.
For the first time in many years the boys participated in this years Winterall competition. They all did fairly well seeing as Alex and Nick where sick. It is always hard when team mates go down and can't attend. Seth, Anthony, Joey, Dominic and Will made the best of it. Brad made it out for the cooking portion of Friday night and I thank him for making it out there. All in all the general consensus is that it was a good day. No one was hurt or ended up in the hospital, always a plus in my book.

News Around Town
Good news everyone! This week I have some new news and it comes from Ryan.
Camp Big Timber is holding a fundraiser with the proceeds going to the camp. Attached is the flyer with the details.
I hope everyone had a chance to partake in this weekend's fantastic weather. Hopefully we will see the same scenario play out next weekend as we go for our camp Indian Trails camp out. As we move further into spring and more things become available we as a troop can reincorporate many of the interesting things that we had hoped to do last year but couldn't. Hikes, trips and even the unconventional meeting idea are all on the table. Some of the strangest meeting ideas turn out to be the most interesting times. Let me know what's on your mind and let's see if we can't turn it into something the group could really get into.

IMPORTANT -
March Camp-out - Camp Indian Trails - re-post
(just in case you have not seen this yet)
There are two major updates for our March camp out. It is confirmed that the cabin in Gilberts WILL NOT be able to host us this spring. Therefore, we will be switching the location to Camp Indian Trails just north of Janesville WI.
The cabin that I was able to rent sleeps 28. It also has plenty of room both inside and outside if you would prefer tent camping. Please note: Most of our 3rd years need at least one night in a tent that they have pitched in order to qualify for 2nd class. This would complete that requirement.
We all know our March camp out will most definitely be different than any we've had in the past. This year it will be a combination of our electronics camp-out and our spring kick off camp out. We will be allowing scouts to bring any games they want with them on this camp-out. Any electronic, board game or card games they would like to bring is fair game. The weekend will be a mixture of scout skills and games. I believe everyone will be able to get something done and if I am correct could qualify for a rank advancement by the end of the month. I will need a volunteer to pull the trailer for us.
I want to thank everyone that was able to come to the camp-out this past weekend. For the 1st time in over a year we finally got a chance to go camping. We were able to complete a lot while we where up at the cabin this weekend. There is still more to do but we at least got a big portion of it done. If the spring continues to open up for us April will be better and May may be even better still.
Having the honor to welcome new scouts into our troop is a privilege that I always enjoy. Every new scout that joins brings with them a new sense of excitement and energy. Long after the brag vest is turned in for the merit badge sash and the numbers on the shoulder are switched around you find a new adventure with people you didn't even expect to meet. Placing yourself in a whole new environment and finding out that you are not only making it work but thriving at it.
